Astrological signs; those pre-ordained character traits that we seem to have been blessed with just because we were born on a certain day in a certain month.
Each sign of the Zodiac is housed under one of the 4 elements:
Fire - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius.
Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.
Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius.
Water - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
I don't know about anyone else, but everything I've ever read about my astrological sign has basically nailed down my personality and quirky traits to a tee. And if I'm honest I can't say I've ever met a person who hasn't been able to say the same.
Olfaction, or the sense of smell is one of the most powerful senses in our sensory system arsenal. Our nose is generaly our first line of defence in everyday situations:
Is this milk really off?
Does my child need a nappy change?
Coffee, someone is brewing coffee!!!!
The list is practically endless....
But aside from the basics, our sense of small can also attract us and trigger memories and feelings. Have you ever walked down the street and someone walks past you that is wearing the same cologne as your partner or a past lover and you're instantly reminded of that person; or when you walk into a bakery and the smell reminds you of your grandmothers kitchen. Scents have an uncanny way of attaching themselves to powerful memories.
Now its time to think about why some smells attract you and why they don't attract other people. It has been postulated that your astrological sign plays a part.
